CONCORD, NH (February 24, 2004) - The $85.5 million New Hampshire POWERBALL jackpot from the February 4, 2004, drawing, was claimed in the form of a trust: The Bow Trust (pronounced ‘bau) of Portland, Maine.
Trustee Thomas J. Van Meer, partner in the law firm of Van Meer and Belanger of Portland, Maine, made the claim at the New Hampshire Lottery® headquarters.
According to lottery officials, the recipients of the Bow Trust chose to take the cash option jackpot payment of $46.5 million before taxes.
“Congratulations to our newest Powerball winners!” said Rick Wisler, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “While we do enjoy the ability to meet our winners and help them announce their good fortune, we can respect the winners’ desire to remain anonymous. We wish them all the best!”
The winning easy pick ticket was sold at Gary’s Beverages in Portsmouth, NH, on February 1, 2004. Dipak and Rita Patel, owners of the store, received a retailer incentive of $30,000 for selling that winning ticket. The winning numbers were 7-12-17-25-32, PB - 33.
This is the 8th winning Powerball jackpot ticket sold in New Hampshire since Powerball ticket sales began in the state in 1995. It’s also the second jackpot won in the Granite State in the last five months.
