$1,000,000 Powerball Ticket Claimed by Delaware Man

Delaware – A 79-year-old Selbyville man matched five white balls for the March 2nd POWERBALL® drawing, winning $1,000,000 before taxes. The man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased two Quick Pick POWERBALL® tickets for the drawing from the Fenwick Island Goose Creek.

"I won $500 before, but obviously nothing this big," the man said. "I checked my numbers on the website (delottery.com) the morning after the drawing. I couldn't believe it."

After taxes, the man took home $760,000.

"This is the second $1,000,000 winner from Delaware in just two months," said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. "A $1,000,000 winning MEGA MILLIONS® ticket was sold in Rehoboth in January."

When asked what he was planning to do with his winnings, the man said he's still deciding what to do - but for now, he's just happy to have it in the bank.

The man claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on March 18, 2019.
