First-time Powerball® Player Wins $50,000 With The Hoosier Lottery

Adrianne Woodruff and her husband Todd are both retired. They’re using their retirement years to explore hobbies and travel with their children and grandchildren. Adrianne has taken up gardening, candle making and crafting and says she can always find something to keep herself busy.

It was nearing Christmas, and Adrianne thought it’d be fun to gift Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs to her adult children this year. She had heard about the $1 billion Powerball® jackpot, and for the first time in her life, she decided to play Powerball. Adrianne bought 12 tickets, one for each person in her family.

The Sunday morning after the drawing, Adrianne excitedly began to review her tickets. The very last ticket she checked matched four white balls and the Powerball. Quickly, she realized that she had won $50,000! Adrianne looked across the table at her husband and said, “Todd, you’re not going to believe this, but we just won $50,000!”

Her husband was in disbelief, but Adrianne was sure of what she saw. Adrianne waited until after the holiday rush to contact the Hoosier Lottery and make an appointment to claim her prize.

“When I read the ticket information over the phone when I was making my appointment, and they said I was the winner of $50,000, that made it very real,” Adrianne said about the reality of her win sinking in.

Adrianne and her husband plan to use the prize money to continue to travel with their entire family to fantastic destinations – last year was a cruise from London to Norway! “We want to spend as much time as we can with our kids while we are able to,” she said.
